Squawking Ravens

USA TODAY: Linebacker Ray Lewis had sharp criticism for the officials, who flagged Suggs and Haloti Ngata for roughing-the-passer penalties on New England quarterback Tom Brady. Both fouls extended drives that turned into Patriots touchdowns.

"Without totally going off the wall, it is embarrassing to the game," Lewis said. "Brady is good enough to make his own plays, let him make the play. When you have two great teams that are going at it, let them go at it.

"Did (the penalties) win or lose the game? No, but it got them 14 points."

Suggs, who complained that the Patriots received too many calls friendly to the home team, suggested the league is more interested in guarding "some quarterbacks more than others."

"They don't want the quarterbacks getting hurt," he said. "Maybe next year it'll be two-hand touch for the sack because we can't tackle."

Are these two assholes shitting me? I didn’t see either of you dash out on the field to pick the flag up when Mike Wright got called for one on Joe Flacco. Sorry fellas, but 7 of you sprinting full-pelt at a stationary bloke trying to sling a brick downfield with all his attention on that deserves a little protection.

I’d be a little more embarrassed, if, god forbid, I was Ray Lewis, with screaming like a banshee unintelligibly at all and sundry each game. Or perhaps at my coach, who, in a remarkable departure from his usual normal behaviour (for an NFL coach), decided to spend a quarter at the game screaming at a sideline official, costing the team 15 yards and, no doubt, a decent decision or two which might have helped put a dent in that 6 point margin. Or Mark Clayton, who couldn’t catch a pass my future 7 year old daughter will be able to.
